unexpected & delightful news for this full moon
In the ever-growing list of things I never thought would happen to me, I can now add that my book is on the shelf in a bookstore.
The blue spine in the middle of this photo is Still Moving, in the biography section of Charis Books & More:
LOL, like I can actually be that calm about it. Still Moving is in a bookstore!!!!!!!!!!!
I took a photo of the shelf because I didn't want a photo of myself ugly crying at the sight of it.
Having my book on any bookshelf is a dream come true, but all the more because Charis is an amazing, powerful place — with a commitment to marginalized voices and social justice, hosting constant programming for deeper understanding and connections. Many events are online, so you need not be local to join them.
If you're local and you buy the book at Charis, I'd love to know! Please, seriously, tell me. Feel free to send a photo. I don't mind ugly crying again.
If you're not local, you can still order from Charis and have books shipped directly to you.
Honored doesn't begin to describe the feeling of being on the shelf at my favorite bookstore.
I mean, I've hiked around the cone of an active volcano and I once made eye contact with Audrey Hepburn. But having my memoir in a bookstore is a completely different order of magnitude.
And if you're sensitive to the world and feeling the heartbreak of these times, know that you're not alone and your feelings are valid and normal. Keep sharing about the urgency of a ceasefire, keep advocating to protect vulnerable children, keep allowing your generous heart to feel.
Peace,
S.
