The book cover! And a really meaningful review.

Well, in a rough week in the news, I have some sparks of light to share.

First, the stall I mentioned recently has been resolved! So far so good. I'll keep ya posted.

Now, the most exciting moment for me so far: the cover!

I wanted to share the title and the cover at the same time. So, here ya go, the book is called Still Moving.

I just submitted the final manuscript, and I got an additional review to print inside:

"This is a beautifully honest and thought-provoking account of the physical and mental struggles of living with a long term chronic illness such as Long Covid; the uncertainty for the future, the feeling of being isolated from the world, and the sheer depths to which we can fall whilst suffering. This memoir embraces and accepts all of the dark, and yet still allows the light to shine through."

I was in tears reading it, for a lot of reasons. I'm always moved when someone resonates with my art. But this is from Jackie Baxter, who's also had Long Covid. She's the first long-hauler to read my book, and I'm super honored that she shared this review.

Jackie is also the creator and host of the Long Covid Podcast, which is an incredible resource. It has plenty of information from a medical perspective, but also a lot of personal stories. If you're struggling with LC or know people who are, I recommend it.

Do I follow ALL the advice that various experts or long-haulers recommend? Absolutely not. Do I like having this much information available? Absolutely YES, especially because there's no bigger picture medical knowledge about LC.

(These are not affiliate links, by the way. I believe in that transparency.)

Now that I'm officially done editing, I'm giving myself some space to process and integrate. Especially in a heartbreaking week like this one, it's essential to keep me from sliding into cynicism and despair. I'm looking forward to playing a live, outdoor sound journey on this Friday the 13th.

So, I hope you take some time to give yourself whatever you need. Dance in your kitchen, howl at the sky, rage at governments. It's all medicine, if you allow it to be.

Warmly,
S.
